photographs are great; horizontal distribution not so much

that thing is as impractial and retarded as it is awesome.

I'm having a hard time grasping that it could actually fly.
mrcucumber said @ 4:34am GMT on 9th Mar
Anything with enough thrust will fly. Provided lift is involved.
sanepride said @ 4:40am GMT on 9th Mar
Actually it could barely 'fly'. See explanation/video below.

It's as possible and as safe as flying at 30,000 feet.
Ground effect essentially makes it so it can't crash, even if it's 6m off the water. Just like a real plane, if it loses power, it'll probably crash, just without the compulsory 10-minute death spiral.

holy shit. I want to live in there!

More here. The 'ekranoplan' was designed as an aircraft/hovercraft hybrid, skimming the water at aeronautical speeds. Also known as the 'Caspian Sea Monster':

In the hospital I've been in, the path from one of the carparks to the main building runs right past the outside area for secure patients. It's a fully secure enclosure, like a monkey house at the zoo, with some plants and seats and ashtrays and a basketball hoop. There's usually a couple of people out there smoking or just sitting around (I've never seen anyone playing basketball, I'm not even sure there was a ball last time I was there) and it's awkward and weird for everyone when people walk past.
mrcucumber said @ 4:17am GMT on 9th Mar
Please don't use the word monkey. There is nothing wrong with monkeys or the way they live. 0_o
papango said @ 4:26am GMT on 9th Mar
I'm just talking strictly about the manner of their enclosures. I make no judgement on the monkeys themselves.

I think the large Indian took the ball when he left. He was muttering something about "Juicy Fruit."

Wow, lots of Vancouver scenery in there... Heard some neat stories about it through friends while they were shooting here a couple years ago. Two 40-foot trailers required, linked via fiber optics to the cameras, in order to process the raw data (uncompressed) for 3D digital capture.

What's with the "brain skull" picture? That was most disturbing. Are those marks on the skull from self injury? He couldn't have possibly worn down the skull itself that much so the brain is exposed, or could he?
mrcucumber said @ 1:28pm GMT on 9th Mar
maybe a birth defect.
Baxter_UK said @ 10:47pm GMT on 9th Mar
I could not figure that one out, either.
Galley said @ 11:39pm GMT on 9th Mar
Could be an old craniotomy and the piece was never put back in.
kang said @ 11:49pm GMT on 9th Mar [Score:1 Informative]
No, craniotomy vacuums don't wrinkle, they just indent.

I've seen the same head furrows on patients in the past. It's not really a marker of any particular disease. Some people just do that.
traitor said @ 5:27am GMT on 10th Mar
What do you mean, he made those markings himself with his fingernails or something? That's not his brain we are seeing?
Sarahbear said @ 8:14am GMT on 15th Mar
