European Commission Proposes New Laws for Data Privacy

quote [ The European Commission has today proposed a comprehensive reform of the EU's 1995 data protection rules to strengthen online privacy rights and boost Europe's digital economy. ]

Feels like a reaction to recent happenings, though I doubt the EU Commission is that agile.

The European privacy laws were from before the inter webs hit us, so no, not very agile. It's a good development however, so that's at least something.

I don't think this really makes much different now that the Europarliament has also brought in laws forcing all ISPs and communication companies to store connection data for 6 months (I think its 6)
